Know where you are, faster and easier, with BrailleNote GPS. Enjoy travel independence by knowing where you are, where you're going, and the best way to get there with the BrailleNote Global Positioning System software with easy-to-follow maps.

By combining a BrailleNote with the latest GPS Technology, you have the ultimate tool for expanding and exploring your environment while being able to switch at any time to the other BrailleNote applications, like the Internet, E-mail, Word Processor, Media Player, Address Book, Planner and more.

BrailleNote GPS uses a cell-phone size GPS receiver to relay information from GPS satellites. It calculates where you are and plots the route to a destination you choose. You can use the BrailleNote or VoiceNote to: automatically create routes for either walking, or riding in a vehicle; understand the street layout before traveling to a new city with the virtual explore mode; provide you with detailed information about your speed, the direction you are traveling and your altitude; easily calculate the distance and direction to a street address or intersection; find out the relative location of millions of Points of Interest; and focus your point of interest search by category.

If you are trying to navigate in an unfamiliar area, turn on the BrailleNote GPS and the automatic POI "look around" mode announces points of interest within 300 feet. But that's only the start as it will also: announce an upcoming intersection; locate a train station or custom-marked bus stop; help you find your way back to your hotel; and meet a friend for lunch at a restaurant you've never been to before.

All these possibilities add up to an efficient, integrated GPS solution for anyone using a BrailleNote or VoiceNote in both unfamiliar or familiar locations. The BrailleNote GPS connects via Bluetooth wireless technology.

Newer features of the BrailleNote GPS:

Newer maps and Points of Interest (POIs) in several countries, including huge improvements in European data;

Improved address matching - easier than ever to establish a destination by address;

Restructured Help menu - Organized into categories for easier navigation;

GPS Replay functionality - This wonderful teaching and diagnostic tool allows the user to record and replay the exact positions during a GPS walk or ride so that the user can review that session.

Task Switching - It is possible to switch tasks from GPS to other BrailleNote applications and back;

Improved Heading Reading - GPS fluctuations are smoothed out;

Much better route calculation powered by a newer Map Engine and new Route features including the newer Quick Turns feature.

MySendero.com is a newer website for user-downloadable Maps and POIs. With the user's BrailleNote serial number and password, there is access to this site, where the user can download maps and POIs by state. This will add convenience for quick access to new upgrades as well as allowing a reduced amount to be charged for updates.

A Sendero GPS Educational Site License is also available for GPS software for schools that have multiple BrailleNote GPS units. This is a perfect and cost savings offer for a mobility program where the instructor would like to have multiple students practicing the GPS software in virtual mode and using one receiver to used to travel with students at different intervals. Additional licenses and receivers can be purchased.

The Sendero GPS Educational Site License includes the following:

Up to 5 Serialized GPS Software Licenses
5 1GB CompactFlash Cards
1 set of US Maps
1 GPS Receiver
Tech Support Access for One Person
1 GPS Courseware Manual in either Braille or Print

BrailleNote GPS Users, Please Note:
For those who have upgraded to KeySoft 7 on the mPower or BrailleNote Classic, your GPS version 3.3 should continue to work. You might have to reinstall it but everything will work normally.

Since GPS is under the Navigation menu under KeySoft 7, it takes a while to get used to pressing N from the Main Menu instead of G, which gets you to Games. On the PK with KeySoft 7, a free GPS 3.3.1 version is needed as the directory structure has changed on the PK to make it the same as the mPower. E-mail your serial number for your PK to Sheila@SenderoGroup.com for the 3.3.1 file.

You will also notice slightly different behavior under KeySoft 7 with regard to activating the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Under Keysoft 6 on the mPower, you should be very familiar with 3 steps for activating the receiver which are, Activate, Reset and Activate again. Under KeySoft 7, it is no longer necessary to reset and reactivate. All you have to do is to Activate ActiveSync once if you have performed a reset.

On the PK under KeySoft 6, you had to deactivate and reactivate after doing a reset. Under KeySoft 7, once you do a reset, the PK is already deactivated and you just have to activate it once.

You may find that you need to pause at the Main menu for 5 seconds or so before pressing N for Navigation, otherwise you may get a Bluetooth not connected message.

A new Getting Started document has been adjusted with these KeySoft 7 connectivity details and is available upon request.
